Free Patriotic Movement president Gebran Bassil's comments Sunday on the 2001 Mountain Reconciliation drew a quick rebuke from Progressive Socialist Party MPs Wael Abu Faour and Akram Chehayeb. In 1983, PSP and Lebanese Forces militias in the Chouf fought what would later become known as the War of the Mountain. Bassil's comments were implicitly condemned in a response from Abu Faour, who stressed that the Mountain Reconciliation was well established.Chehayeb also responded to Bassil saying that undermining the Mountain Reconciliation constitutes a red line for PSP.
