Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah said that the "axis of resistance" had won the Syrian conflict that was now largely over, local media reported Tuesday. The "axis of resistance" refers to Iran, Syria, and Hezbollah. The party is fighting alongside Syrian President Bashar Assad in Syria, publicly acknowledging the deployment in 2013 .Hezbollah is also currently believed to be fighting alongside the Syrian regime in its two most strategic ongoing operations: expelling Daesh (ISIS) from Deir al-Zor and against rebels in the south along the Jordanian border. Al-Akhbar reported that the Hezbollah secretary-general then narrated how he met with Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei at the beginning of the Syrian crisis.Hezbollah's participation in the Syrian civil war has been its most costly engagement by far.
