The Union Coordination Committee (UCC) called for a general strike to take place Monday in all public administrations, ministries, schools and municipalities to demand public employees be paid in line with the new salary scale.The strike comes after the repeal of the tax hike law by the Constitutional Council Friday that would have funded the new salary scale for public employees.The new salary scale for public employees, which includes military personnel and public school teachers, will cost an estimated LL1.2 trillion ($800 million) annually.
