Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil defended the integrity of expatriate voting Wednesday, after Education Minister Marwan Hamadeh said there were transparency issues with the oversight of voting abroad.Bassil meanwhile went on to say that the Interior Ministry was responsible for overseeing the elections, while his Foreign Ministry dealt simply with implementation in the case of expatriate voting.Over 90,000 expats registered to vote by the November deadline and Bassil has been a key figure in pressing for the expatriate vote.Turning to Lebanese Diaspora Energy conferences, which have long been accused of being politicized in favor of Bassil and the FPM, which he heads, Bassil said he had been forced to clarify that these were not "political conferences".
