An official from Lebanon's Foreign Ministry denied reports that Beirut refused Kuwait's newly appointed ambassador in response to Kuwait rejecting Lebanon's choice for its envoy to the Gulf state. Local daily Al-Akhbar reported Thursday that the ministry had rejected the appointment of a new Kuwaiti ambassador to Lebanon in "response" to the Kuwaiti rejection of Rayan Said's appointment as the Lebanese ambassador in 2017 . A statement from the Foreign Ministry Thursday morning clarified that Kuwait extended the term of its current ambassador to Lebanon Abdel-Aal al-Qenai and that the ministry did not mind the extension.Al-Akhbar reported that due to the lift of the travel ban of Kuwaiti citizens to Lebanon, the Foreign Ministry did not disclose its decision and is trying to show the "positive role" of Kuwait in Lebanon.
