The mayor of the Kesrouan village of Yahshoush Thursday ordered a halt to excavation works on a private property in the UNESCO-recognized Jabal Moussa Biosphere Reserve, the state-run National News Agency reported.Mayor Carl Zwein was quoted as saying the owner of the land had not obtained any permits from the municipality to go about the work and that it was done quickly in the uninhabited area, and was therefore only discovered Thursday. Zwein said he would follow up on the issue with the Environment Ministry in order to rehabilitate the area.
