The caretaker health minister called on the Energy Ministry to notify beachgoers of polluted areas that are not suitable for swimming, according to a statement from the Health Ministry.Hasbani referred to conflicting reports by the National Council for Scientific Research, which found only four out of the surveyed 25 areas as "unfit for swimming," and the report by the Lebanese Agricultural Research Institute which found every single water source in the country – including rivers and drinking water sources – to be contaminated to some degree. The request for results is intended to officially mark the polluted beaches as unsafe and to inform citizens of the polluted areas for their safety, according to the statement.
