The Lebanese Army Tuesday stood up to Israeli soldiers attempting to lay a barbed wire along the U.N.-demarcated Blue Line separating Israel and Lebanon.Israel had first laid out 200 meters of barbed wire Monday, prompting the Lebanese Army and the U.N. peacekeeping mission in south Lebanon to go on alert. Lebanese and Israeli soldiers later came face to face after Israeli soldiers briefly violated the Blue Line.EU Ambassador to Lebanon Christina Lassen Tuesday called on Lebanese authorities to recognize as well as investigate alleged breaches of U.N. Security Council Resolution 1701, which ended Israel's July 2006 war on Lebanon, "in accordance with Lebanon's obligations".
