Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil addressed participants at this year's Lebanese Diaspora conference in Abidjan Friday via recorded video, saying he was not there in person in order to protect those in attendance.Video of the conference hall showed roughly a quarter of the seats empty during Bassil's address, while images from Friday evening showed only a few dozen in attendance. There has been speculation that Bassil will attend the last day of the conference Saturday, although this could not be confirmed. The row between Berri and Bassil was sparked after a video surfaced Monday of Bassil calling Berri a "thug".
