A memorial service for British diplomat Rebecca Dykes, who was killed near Beirut in December, was held Wednesday at Mar Elias Church in Beirut's Kantari.During Wednesday's service, which was led by Archbishop of Beirut Bishop Boulos Matar, U.K. Ambassador to Lebanon Hugo Shorter announced the "Rebecca Dykes Chevening Scholarship," which will be granted to a female Lebanese or Palestinian residing in Lebanon to pursue a master's degree in the U.K. The ceremony was also attended by Lebanese officials, including Minister of State for Women's Affairs Jean Ogasapian, as well as various ambassadors, ministers and Dykes' friends and colleagues.
