Speaker Nabih Berri Wednesday called on Arab nations to close their embassies in Washington in response to U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to move the American Embassy in Israel to occupied Jerusalem.According to a statement from the speaker's office, Berri went on to say that attempts to topple Jerusalem were the beginning of a plan to orchestrate the downfall of all Arab capitals. Berri went on to slam the expansion of Israeli settlements – which are illegal under international law – in addition to mass arrests conducted by Israeli authorities and the ever-elongating separation wall in the West Bank.Berri said Wednesday that he spoke on behalf of Lebanon's Parliament, which on Dec. 8 rejected Trump's decision during an emergency session, and called for unity in the face of aggression.
