Firebrand Salafist Sheikh Ahmad al-Assir claimed Thursday that he was tortured by General Security after being arrested in the summer of 2015 . Assir's claims were made during his latest appearance before the Military Tribunal, where he was questioned about his involvement in clashes between the Lebanese Army and hard-line gunmen in the Minyeh-Dinnieh district town of Bhenin in 2014 . Assir told the court's head, Brig. Gen. Hussein Abdullah, that he was tortured by General Security during questioning, a claim that was denied by a source from the agency. "A bit," Assir said the investigators had told Ibrahim.Assir's narrative of the days after his arrest interrupted Abdullah's questioning in the Bhenin clashes and his relationship with extremist Sheikh Khaled Hoblos, who was arrested in April 2015 .
