Following what seemed to be a blunder on Elie Saab's public Instagram account, the Lebanese fashion designer has found himself at the center of a hotly politicized and internationally discussed debacle. Late Tuesday, Saab's official Instagram account published and then deleted a photo praising Israeli actress Gal Gadot wearing a blue, one-shouldered sashed gown created by the Lebanese designer. Gadot shot to stardom in 2017 following her leading role in Marvel's "Wonder Woman" – a movie banned in Lebanon after its release in May as part of the country's boycott of Israel. Despite being erased, the Lebanese Twitter-sphere didn't forget the photo's brief existence and users continued to criticize the designer for his public praise of Gadot.Although "Wonder Woman" and then "Justice League" were banned over Gadot's starring role, other movies she's featured in – including the popular "Fast and Furious" series, "Criminal," "Triple 9" and "Batman v. Superman" – were all shown in Lebanon.
