The Hamas Movement blamed Israel Sunday for a car bombing that wounded one of its members in the southern city of Sidon.Local media reported that Hamas officials initially denied that one of its members was the target of the attack before later acknowledging Hamdan's identity. Hamdan was not a publicly known Hamas figure in Lebanon and sources in Sidon told The Daily Star that he is considered to be among the group's inner circle. Barakeh also condemned the attack, saying that it didn't only target Hamas, but also the Palestinian presence in Lebanon and Lebanon's security.Al-Manar television, run by the Lebanese political and military group Hezbollah, described Hamdan as an important figure in Hamas, adding that he appeared to have a security role and was being tracked by Israel. A leader of the Palestinian Fatah movement in Lebanon said Hamdan was involved in operations in Israel. Israel was blamed for the attack.
