President Michel Aoun said Friday that Lebanon places great importance on the role the United Nations should play in preventing Israel from building a wall along the southern border before changes to its planned route are made.U.N. security council resolution 1701, which ended the 2006 Israeli war, places responsibility on the international community to make Israel stop "violations," especially since Lebanon committed to and has not violated the resolution since, Aoun said.Jenca reportedly conveyed U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Gutteres' greetings to Aoun.Aoun also met a delegation of unions from the transport sector, asking them to take back a decision to strike on Feb. 1, adding he would put demands made by the delegation on the next Cabinet agenda.
