The controversial Costa Brava landfill will not be expanded for now after a judge's decision Tuesday ordering work to stop pending a report into its risks. Civil society group United for Lebanon had filed a lawsuit over the Cabinet's expansion decision in June. About a month after the caretaker Cabinet authorized the landfill's expansion, Chamoun ordered work to halt immediately.It even went so far as to add the Cabinet had not consulted the ministry in its authorization of the landfill's expansion.However, Ollaik noted there were political interests to be aware of.
