A Future Movement minister Wednesday said the Lebanese government would not change its mind on the nature of its relations with Syria, after Industry Minister Hussein Hajj Hasan had made comments to the contrary.While General Security engages with the Syrian government on security and refugee issues, politicians disagree over how deep Lebanon's coordination with Syrian President Bashar Assad's government should be.The Amal Movement, Hezbollah – of which Hajj Hasan is a member – and their allies, support normalizing ties with the Assad regime, while Future, the Lebanese Forces and some other parties say normal ties are not possible until a political solution is reached to end the seven-year Syrian war.Merehbi emphasized that Hajj Hasan was in no way a representative of the Lebanese government on his visit.
