The trial of Amer Khayat, a Lebanese-Australian man accused of attempting to blow up an Emirati passenger plane with his four brothers a year earlier, began Monday. Khayat appeared before the military court, headed by Brig. Khayat has been detained in Lebanon, while his brothers, Tarek, Mahmoud, Khaled and Mohammad, are still on the run.However, because of the bag's weight, Amer was forced to check the bag, and authorities discovered and disabled the explosives.Khayat claimed he hadn't known the explosives were in his bag.
