The Lebanese Forces staunchly denied reports it was pushing Washington to review its support for the Lebanese Army Friday. Speaking to local TV channel MTV, caretaker Information Minister Melhem Riachi called on caretaker Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil to take the necessary measures against Lebanon's Ambassador to the United States Gabriel Issa, whom the LF believes instigated the issue.Al-Akhbar, in a report published Friday, also accused the LF of attempting to undermine President Michel Aoun, Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri and the Army.It added that this fell within the LF's efforts to ensure the Army has a monopoly on force in the country.
