A warehouse raid carried out by security forces over the weekend was the biggest-ever drug smuggling bust in Lebanon's history, a top security official said Monday in a news conference that also detailed the arrest of a separate cocaine smuggling network.
Security forces confiscated around 15 tons of hashish Friday from a warehouse in Ouzai, south Beirut.
Gen. Imad Othman said during the televised conference.
Othman said the main local suspect is from the Bekaa Valley.
Othman further revealed the details of another separate drug bust that was carried out over the past two months. The ISF arrested three members of an international drug ring smuggling bottles of liquidized cocaine that, according to Othman, was getting past airport checkpoints "very easily".
