The international community jumped to the defense of the United Nations refugee agency Monday in what was seen as a response to caretaker Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil's recent stance against the organization.Joining the U.S. Embassy statement, the French, British and Norwegian ambassadors to Lebanon all tweeted support for the UNHCR.Norwegian Ambassador Lene Natasha Lind acknowledged Syria's neighboring countries are struggling to host refugees.Syrian refugees were also at the center of discussions between U.S. Ambassador Elizabeth Richard and caretaker Interior Minister Nouhad Machnouk during a meeting Monday at the minister's office.After the meeting, Aoun admitted political differences between the FPM, which is headed by Bassil, and Machnouk's Future Movement, over the refugee crisis.
