The United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees is "weeks away from making some drastic decisions" due to its dire financial position, the agency's director for Lebanon warned Wednesday. The funding crisis started in January, when the Trump administration announced that it would withhold at least $65 million in funding for 2018 .The U.S. released $60 million, but conditioned further funding on reform within the U.N. agency. A pledge meeting for UNRWA will be held at the U.N. headquarters June 25 .On their visit to the Shatila camp, Lassen, Cordone and other UNRWA personnel toured a school and a medical clinic funded by the EU. The European Union is currently the largest donor to UNRWA and has launched a number of additional projects in Lebanon this year aimed at supporting refugees from Syria and the communities who host them.
