A wide-scale security operation launched in Baalbeck-Hermel has thus far been successful, Lebanon's caretaker interior minister announced Tuesday after discussing the area's security measures with President Michel Aoun.Gen. Hatem Mallak – who is acting Army commander while Gen. Joseph Aoun is in the United States – confirmed that the Army began implementing ramped up security measures in the area Monday.During a meeting with Baalbeck-Hermel MPs Monday, President Aoun said the measures taken to strengthen security and stability in the area would be linked to development efforts.Separately, Gen. Aoun Tuesday discussed the Army's continued efforts to protect the country's borders and stability.
