The Lebanese military's two biggest challenges are the terrorist threats from Syria and the Israeli aggression on the country's sovereignty, Lebanese Army head Gen. Joseph Aoun said in an interview published Wednesday. When asked about the Army's achievements during his term, Aoun said the most important achievement was last August's 'Fajr al-Jaroud' operation to drive Daesh (ISIS) militants out of territory held along the eastern border near Ras Baalbeck and Al-Qaa.According to Aoun, this is where the humanitarian role of the Army steps in.When asked about the Army's role in the upcoming parliamentary elections, Aoun stressed that the military was apolitical and stayed out of electoral affairs.
