Progressive Socialist Party head Walid Jumblatt took to Twitter Sunday to warn that Lebanon was entering a phase of desertification, an issue he said was "more important" than preparations for an upcoming conference in Paris on Lebanon's economy.Lebanon already sits below the U.N.'s water poverty line of 1,000 cubic meters of available water per capita per year.More than 60 percent of Lebanese lands are meanwhile at risk of desertification due to the water shortage, The Daily Star reported previously.Jumblatt has previously voiced his opposition to Lebanon's ongoing reliance on power barges anchored off the coast owned by Turkish company Karadeniz Holding.
