Former Minister Faisal Karami announced his hard-fought list Monday before a rowdy crowd of supporters in Tripoli, as last-minute negotiations between the Kataeb and Lebanese Forces yielded a joint slate of candidates in the neighboring district. The crowd was enthralled for much of Karami's speech, often interrupting with shouts of "Faisal, Faisal" and more than once with a vulgar chant directed at Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea.Kataeb had reportedly demanded that Fadi Saad, the LF's candidate in Batroun, withdraw in favor of Kataeb MP Samer Saade.Future Movement MP Nicolas Ghosn will run on the FPM's slate, a representative of Ghosn confirmed to The Daily Star Sunday. The Future Movement claims it is staying out of the district and did not include Ghosn as one of its official candidates. There has been speculation that the Future Movement would ally with the FPM in several districts across the country, but that has not happened everywhere.
