Druze political, official and religious figures Tuesday evening called for restraint and calm after armed clashes between supporters of the Progressive Socialist Party and the Lebanese Democratic Party in an Aley town left a man dead. Sources told The Daily Star that the man, identified as PSP supporter Alaa Abi Faraj, was shot dead in clashes that erupted between followers of both parties in Choueifat.Army Intelligence Tuesday evening was handed PSP supporters who participated in the clashes and was waiting on the LDP to hand over those who participated from its side.Members of each party accused the other of instigating Tuesday's clashes, but Joumblatt and LDP head Talal Arslan issued a joint statement calling on supporters of their respective parties to stay calm and maintain stability in the area.
