Hariri rejects preconditions by parties on Cabinet postsToughening his stance ahead of his expected reappointment to the premiership, Prime Minister Saad Hariri said Friday he would not accept preconditions set by major blocs concerning the distribution of key ministerial portfolios in a new post-election Cabinet, describing them as "worthless". Later Friday night, Hariri met with Berri at the latter's Ain al-Tineh residence.Other media reports said Berri and Hariri also discussed a Parliament session on May 21 to elect a Parliament speaker and deputy speaker and the formation of a new government. Two days after Berri said he supported Hariri to form Lebanon's next Cabinet after the elections, the prime minister said his Future Movement's bloc would back Berri's re-election as Parliament speaker.Hariri also said that the final Cabinet session before the government enters caretaker status on May 21 will be held Wednesday.Berri, 80, has held his post for more than 25 years and is widely expected to be re-elected.
