Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai called Wednesday for contact between Lebanese and Syrian authorities over the return of Syrian refugees to their home country.Rai was in France on a three-day visit, during which he met with French President Emmanuel Macron as well as the prime minister, the Senate leader and other top officials. Rai also reiterated his stance that the political situation in Syria needs to be separated from refugee return.Rai said there are safe zones in Syria, a country almost 18 times larger than Lebanon.
