An earlier version of this article did not clarify that there were 1.51 million tourist arrivals in 2018 by the end of September, as opposed to caretaker Tourism Minister Avedis Guidanian’s claim that 2018 tourist levels had reached 2 million. The Daily Star regrets this error.
