Faculty, parents, students and government officials Thursday protested the the closure of the College Mekhitarist, and what they said was the "disgraceful" dismissal of its head, Father Joseph Topalian, the state-run National News Agency reported.The protest took place at the school, located in Hazmieh. The church, which runs the school, was suffering from a lack of funds and wanted to sell the land the school is on.College Mekhitarist's closure will leave 300 students without a school and 30 teachers without a job, the NNA reported.Yacoubian, an alumna of the school, spoke about the Topalian's merit and asked the Armenian Catholic Church to honor the services of Topalian.
