Caretaker Defense Minister Yaacoub Sarraf has refused to reopen the case of Arab Movement Party leader Shaker Berjawi, despite widespread calls to do so, a judicial source told The Daily Star Monday.Sarraf, however, refused to hand the case over to the authority, saying he does not consider verdicts issued by military courts to fall under the jurisdiction of the Judicial Inspection Authority.However, a separate judicial source told The Daily Star that the head of the Military Court of Cassation, as well as investigative judges and prosecutors in the military courts, are all part of the Justice Ministry's judicial bodies and, as such, are subject to the Judicial Inspection Authority.
