The ministerial committee tasked with addressing the pollution of the Litani River approved Tuesday the creation of an emergency committee to take over the cleanup effort, the state-run National News Agency reported.In a meeting held at the Agriculture Ministry, Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri approved via phone call the proposal to form a higher emergency committee for the Litani River, which was presented by caretaker Industry Minister Hussein Hajj Hasan, according to the NNA.The proposal tasks Hariri, who heads the ministerial committee, to also head the higher emergency committee.With the exception of Hajj Hasan, who headed the meeting, ministry representatives attended Tuesday's meeting in the ministers' stead.
