return home from LebanonHundreds of Syrian refugees departed from multiple locations in Lebanon to return to their home country Sunday, General Security said.Refugees destined for villages in Syria's western Qalamoun region departed from Arsal in northern Lebanon, where General Security had checked in the names of some 220 returnees between 5:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. The group crossed via the Al-Zamrani border crossing.Around 1 million Syrian refugees are registered with the UNHCR in Lebanon, though officials estimate the number to be closer to 1.5 million.Sunday's departures bring the total number of refugees returning to Syria in crossings organized by General Security to around 3,000 .While many refugees have said they were returning voluntarily, some have been quoted as saying that living conditions in Lebanon had become so bad that they had no choice but to leave.
