The Progressive Socialist Party called Friday on feuding parties to compromise to hasten the formation of a national unity government, in the latest plea to break the monthslong deadlock that is threatening to paralyze state institutions.Hariri, who was appointed on May 24 to form a national unity government representing all the main political parties, Tuesday made a similar call for competing political sides to compromise so that the formation can be accomplished. He said the Cabinet formation is still being held up by competing demands of the Lebanese Forces, the PSP and the Marada Movement. An amendment of Hariri's [Cabinet] draft is possible, but it will not be significant in the way that fulfills the president's reservations," Alloush told the Central News Agency. He said Hariri is convinced of the rightful demands of the LF, the PSP and the Marada. After Hariri's formula has been rejected by Aoun and the FPM, LF leader Samir Geagea said the government formation process was back to square one.
