Qubb Elias Mayor Jihad al-Moallem Saturday responded to a video shared by the Litani River Authority on social media accusing his municipality of being complicit in illegal waste dumping. The video, published Thursday, shows aerial footage of an open dump stretching for several hundred meters alongside a stream, with the LRA describing it as the "longest dump in Lebanon". It then accuses the Qubb Elias Municipality of charging money to allow truckloads of waste to be dumped on the land. In a news conference Saturday, Moallem denied the municipality's involvement in the illegal dump.
