The American University of Beirut honored Antoun Ghattas Karam 40 years after his passing in a symposium held earlier this month by the Arabic and Near Eastern languages department.Karam served as the chairman of AUB's Arabic department from 1971 to 1974, where he was also professor of Arabic literature and Islamic thought.Since Karam's death, in 1979, he has been honored through the establishment of a public library in Jezzine and the Antoun Ghattas Karam E-Classroom at AUB's Jafet Library.
