Dozens of protesters blocked the main highway in Minnieh Tuesday in protest against multiple sources of pollution, a resident of the area and former MP told The Daily Star.Former Future Movement MP Kazem Kheir said that they were protesting "cumulative pollution," caused by one existing power plant, one that is yet to be built and a planned waste incinerator. During a scuffle between protesters and security forces, four members of the Lebanese Army were injured by stones that were thrown at them. The protest had escalated when security removed tents occupied by demonstrators at the gates of the power plant.
