Politicians mourned the loss of former MP and Minister Robert Ghanem, who died this weekend after a sudden illness, according to the state-run National News Agency.MP Neemat Frem praised Ghanem as a "sober and quiet legislator," saying the country would miss his wisdom and dedication to developing Lebanese legislation.MP Najib Mikati reflected on his friendship with Ghanem and hailed his work in Parliament. Ghanem was born in Saghbin, Western Bekaa, the son of late Lebanese Army Commander Gen. Iskandar Ghanem.In 2004, Ghanem made his first bid for the presidency, against the Syrian-sponsored term extension for President Emile Lahoud.Ghanem was a longtime member of the March 14 alliance.
