Gone are the days when the Lebanese standard of beauty in the fashion industry was a 177-centimeter-tall model with straight hair and a tiny waist.Searching for faces that best embody Helou's and Debanne's brands is not easy. Rather than hiring models from major Lebanese agencies, both designers have turned to friends to help scout people who represent their perception of beauty. One person who works closely with Helou is Angelique Sabounjian, who has long involved in Lebanon's fashion industry.Green Apple Agency, founded in September, now represents about 20 models from Lebanon.Isabella El Khoury, another model signed with Green Apple, told The Daily Star she agrees that the fashion industry can have an impact on society by increasing the visibility of different types of people in the world. Through its collections, campaigns and models, Khoury said, fashion has the power to lift people up people in a public way.Sabounjian believes that by offering brands a more diverse spectrum of people, which would in turn showcase their faces and bodies on billboards and storefronts, Green Apple can help change perceptions one model at a time.
