Caretaker Justice Minister Salim Jreissati Tuesday called on State Prosecutor Samir Hammoud to open investigations into a batch of rotten potatoes that were distributed in Sidon, the state-run National News Agency reported.The Economy Ministry had seized the 9-ton batch of rotten potatoes Sunday from a fruit and vegetable shop in al-Hasbeh, a suburb of Sidon.The NNA reported Tuesday that State Security arrested Ali Awada, owner of the shop suspected of selling the potatoes.
