The government commissioner to the Military Court of Cassation Monday filed an appeal against the verdict issued in the case of those accused of framing actor Ziad Itani as an Israeli spy, a judicial source told The Daily Star.Earlier in the day, the government commissioner to the Military Tribunal, Peter Germanos, had submitted the case file to the Military Court of Cassation at Khoury's request. Khoury submitted the appeal in coordination with Acting Cassation Prosecutor Judge Imad Qabalan. The appeal will now be examined by the head of the Court of Cassation Tony Lattouf, who will decide whether the Military Tribunal should retry the case.
