Public prosecutors at the Court of Audit have ordered that the salaries of more than 40 state employees hired in violation of a statewide hiring freeze be stopped, a judicial source told The Daily Star Friday. Judges Fawzi Khamis and Bassam Wehbeh together issued a total of 11 rulings Friday, including ones halting the salaries of nine employees at the office of the minister of state for administrative development, 26 at the General Directorate of Vocational and Technical Education and seven at the Directorate of Higher Education.
