A "first of its kind" assisted living center opened in Beirut Thursday to provide round-the-clock care for patients of all ages, creeds and health needs.Strategically situated between two private hospitals in Ashrafieh -- Hotel Dieu de France and the Lebanese American University's Rizk -- the ODV center provides six main types of care for 131 patients in 92 rooms: intermediate medical care, palliative care, hospice care, senior care, social care, and specialist Alzheimer's and dementia care. While the NGO Alzheimer's Association Lebanon currently runs daycare centers for Alzheimer's and dementia patients, the ODV center is the first in Lebanon to offer a dedicated full-time care center. However, the center is not only for elderly or dying patients, and welcomes anyone over the age of 18 .
