Public figures have called for the resignation of General Confederation of Lebanese Workers head Bechara Asmar after he made insulting comments about former Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir who passed away last weekend.Asmar was caught on video speaking to colleagues before a televised news conference Friday, apparently unaware that he was being recorded as he made insulting personal comments about the Maronite leader, whose funeral took place Thursday.Asmar issued two statements following his comments.In a second statement released after the recording emerged on social media, Asmar acknowledged that he made the comments and claimed that "malevolent" individuals had spread the clip.
