Hundreds of mobile phone industry workers gathered outside the Telecommunications Ministry Thursday, calling upon the government to ensure previously agreed salary allowances would be maintained in new work contracts. The protest was organized by the Mobile Operators Syndicate after Telecoms Minister Mohamed Choucair told workers the ministry had not agreed on the payment of an annual salary increase owed to them, and that it could not give guarantees on safeguard the rights and benefits included in a previous collective work contract.
