President Michel Aoun is expected to seek help in stopping "Israel's threats and aggressions" on Lebanon in his speech to the U.N. General Assembly, a source close to the president said.
Aoun, who is heading the Lebanese delegation to the 74th session of the General Assembly, is set to meet with U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres Wednesday morning before delivering his speech.
In the speech, Aoun will touch on the latest regional developments, the Arab-Israeli conflict and bring back to light the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative, which called for normalizing Arab-Israeli relations in exchange for Israel's total withdrawal from Arab territories occupied in the 1967 Arab-Israeli war, the source said.
Aoun's speech will also touch on the "delicate economic situation" in Lebanon, the source said.
The Jordanian king said his country was prepared to help Lebanon in any field.
The day before, Aoun met with French President Emmanuel Macron, who reaffirmed his country's commitment to supporting Lebanon, telling Aoun he would visit Lebanon next year.
