BEIRUT: A bag snatched from a woman in the Beirut suburb of Sin el-Fil Sunday has been returned to its rightful owner after intervention by Interior Minister Marwan Charbel’s convoy, which happened to be in the area at the time of the incident.
Panic-stricken after her bag had been snatched by Fahed Shhadi al-Barek, an 18-year-old Syrian national, Layleh Youssef Ghanem cried out for someone to help retrieve her belongings, a security source said.
The convoy of Interior Minister Marwan Charbel had been in the area at the time of the incident and intervened to apprehend the Ghanem, the source added.
The Syrian man was transferred to the nearest police station in Sin el-Fil and the bag was returned to its rightful owner.
