BEIRUT: A Lebanese shepherd found a suspicious box in the town of Kfar Qouq in the district of Rashaya prompting the Lebanese Army and peacekeepers to survey the area, the National News Agency said Tuesday.
According to the agency, the shepherd immediately informed the security forces in the area to examine the box that might be an Israeli spying device dropped within the Lebanese territories, added the agency.
Shortly afterward, the NNA said that security forces launched an operation on the outskirts of the neighboring town of Aita Shaab.
Both the Lebanese Army and the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon dispatched personnel to search the bordering area for the unknown object.
In response to the movement of the Lebanese Army and the UNIFIL along the border, Israeli army vehicles also went on alert and carried out patrols on the southern side of the border.
