Lebanese waiter jailed for sex on UAE beach

BEIRUT: A 21-year-old Lebanese waiter has been jailed for inappropriate display of affection after having consensual sex with his Filipina girlfriend on a public beach in the United Arab Emirates, Gulf News reported Friday.

The Dubai Misdemeanor Court Thursday sentenced the Lebanese, known as A.B., and his 30-year-old girlfriend, M.B., each to one month in jail.

The couple was refused bail after last week admitting in court that the police caught them hugging, kissing and engaging in consensual sex. Prosecutors said the couple showed disregard for Dubai’s code of decency.

Both will be deported after completing their jail sentence.

The waiter told prosecutors he met the saleswoman at the Mall of the Emirates 45 days before their arrest, according to the report. "We became friends and lovers. We had consensual sex three times,” he said.

That's freedom of expression (sex).
That's democratic reform in the Arab spring.
